Plastic Disposal Activity

Plastic disposal involves managing plastic waste to protect the environment, conserve resources, engage communities, and promote sustainability. Students engaged with SDI have been assigned to select an area for a waste disposal activity focused on removing plastic waste. They document the area with before and after photographs to showcase the impact of their effort. In addition to cleanup, they ensure proper plastic disposal and raise public awareness about environmental conservation. This initiative empowers youth through education and action, embodying environmental responsibility and collective efforts. It supports SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities), 12 (Responsible Consumption), and 17 (Partnerships) by promoting cleaner urban environments, reducing waste, and fostering collaboration for sustainable outcomes.

Interview with Working Woman

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) course, students were assigned the task of conducting interviews with working women to spotlight their vital contributions to society. These interviews aimed to uncover the daily challenges these women face, such as career barriers, and balancing professional responsibilities with domestic responsibilities. The interview highlighted societal changes needed to support working women, aligning with SDGs 5 (Gender equality), 8 (Economic Growth), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Plantation Drive

A plantation drive involves planting trees in community areas to improve air quality and reduce deforestation. SDI assigned a task of plantation that engaged around 567 students, each dedicatedly planting 10 saplings, which contributes to environmental responsibility and community engagement. This collective effort resulted in a remarkable total of 5000+ trees being planted across various areas of Punjab within 3 months. Such initiatives not only contribute to enhancing green cover but also highlight environmental awareness among the youth. Bird-feeders Drive

The bird-feeder drive, organized by SDI and engaging 500 students, showcased a remarkable display of creativity and environmental stability. Each participant crafted bird feeders from recycled materials, placing them in areas such as balconies and parks where birds frequently visit. The collective effort yielded a total of 1100+ bird feeders, significantly enhancing local habitats for bird species. This drive cultivated eco-awareness and also aligns with key SDGs, like SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

DIY Water Filtration Activity

DIY water filtration system, an engaging project aimed at understanding water purification. By gathering materials such as sand, gravel, and charcoal, students constructed filters that effectively purified water through natural processes. SDI assigned students the task of making a DIY water filtration system. This hands-on activity not only enhanced their practical skills but also deepened their understanding of environmental sustainability. This activity aligned with SDGs such as Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).

Training with NGOs

Training with NGOs is beneficial for students as they learn firsthand about community service and civic responsibilities. The practical experience enhances their teamwork, problem-solving, and empathy skills. SDI engaged around 500+ students, who were enrolled in CSR, with different NGOs to develop these skills;

Pakistan Citizens Alliance

PCA is an NGO that focuses on education and community development & disaster management. Approximately 200 students were engaged with PCA. They provided sessions to build up their skills focusing on these sectors, supporting SDGs 4 (Quality Education), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 13 (Climate Action) & 17 (Partnership).

AGHOSH Orphan Care Home

AGHOSH Orphan Care is a well-known Minhaj Welfare Organization. It is an education-based sanctuary which offers a high standard of education, complemented by outstanding living conditions and a secure environment for both boys and girls. SDI engaged 100+ students with AGHOSH Orphan Care where they interacted and gave educational insights to orphans, they also distributed gifts among orphans. This activity supported SDGs; 1 (No poverty), 4 (Quality Education) & 17 (Partnership). 

Akhuwat Foundation

Akhuwat Foundation has different areas of focus like education, healthcare, and clothing bank in which they serve the community. SDI engaged 100+ students with the clothing bank of Akhuwat Foundation where our students volunteered in clothes donations to the needy. This activity supports SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), & SDG 17 (Partnership).

Jhugi Taleemi Project

Jhugi Taleemi Project (JTP) is an educational initiative for slum children to provide quality education. SDI engaged 200+ students with JTP to volunteer in educating underprivileged children. Our students provided insights on various topics such as heat stroke, personal hygiene, and food hygiene, and engaged the children in playful educational activities. This activity supports SDGs 1 (No poverty), 4 (Quality education), 10 (Reduced inequalities), and 17 (Partnerships).

Iftar for Orphans

On April 5th, 2024, SDI hosted Iftar for orphans at UMT on the instructions of the President of UMT Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad. For this cause, SDI collaborated with two clubs of Office of Participant Affairs; Social Welfare Society and Food Nexus Society by mobilizing their volunteers to raise funds among university students. Approximately an amount of 500,000 PKR were collected that was utilized for arrangements of Iftar and gifts for the orphans, ensuring a meaningful and impactful event. This activity aligns with SDGs such as Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced).

Orientation Session with MilKar Foundation

An orientation session with MilKar Foundation was organized for the students on May 15th, 2024. It was enlightening, focusing on the importance of social work in our communities. The Director of AGHOSH Orphan Care Mr. Col. (R.) Mubashir Iqbal and the Project Head of Akhuwat Foundation Ms. Neelum Gul Chaudhary were invited as guests, who shared their insights on community engagement and its positive impacts. Their perspectives emphasized the value of collective efforts in bringing about meaningful change and for stronger and more resilient societies. The session resonated deeply with attendees, inspiring a commitment to contribute actively to the welfare and upliftment of our shared community.

Visit to Pakistan Citizen Alliance


On May 15th, 2024, the SDI team visited the PCA office where we were briefed on their approach to engaging students in community and social work. They emphasized practical methods and hands-on experiences, highlighting their commitment to empowering young minds through active involvement. This visit not only broadened our understanding of their work but also left us with a deep appreciation for their dedication to community building and student development.

Visit to Kashana Girls Orphange


sKashana Girls Orphanage is a shelter home for orphaned girls where they provide basic necessities and education to girls. On May 17th, 2024, SDI team visited Kashana Girls Orphanage, where they donated sanitary items, that enhances hygiene management, improves health outcomes. This activitry aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting access to essential health resources.

Eid Gifts Donation Drive

SDI successfully engaged 370 students who worked as volunteers to distribute a total of over 5000 Eid gift bags across various institutions, including Chaman Foundation, Social Security Hospital, Ch. Rehmat Ali Trust School and Hospital, Fatimid Foundation, and Jinnah Hospital. This effort underscores SDI's commitment to supporting SDG goals such as SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by providing essential resources during Ramadan.

Blood Donation Drive

SDI and Chughtai Lab teamed up for a blood donation drive to enhance healthcare access. Chughtai Lab provided medical support and screened donations for safety.
